You feel separated from yourself. Although your friends and family might see a side of you that is helpful, kind, and "high functioning", you often feel broken and struggle to keep it together. You don't feel "strong" at all. Perhaps there is shame and anxiety around feeling this way, like you should "have it together". You wonder why things that appear so simple for others, such as self-care, motivation, and healthy relationships, feel so difficult for you to sustain. You look back at your life and the events that shaped you, and think "but it wasn't that bad, others have had it so much worse".
What if there is nothing wrong with you?
What if you are not broken?
What if you were able to see yourself through the eyes of someone who loves you unconditionally? What if you were able to reframe and understand your "symptoms" as adaptations to some pretty tough stuff, such as feeling isolated, a history emotional neglect, a constant influx harmful societal messages about how you "should" be, and the pressure to exist in a world whose rigid systems do not typically allow space and energy to imagine and create a life that feels nourishing?
I would be honored to be a part of your journey.
With an integrative psychotherapy approach that combines storytelling, dream work, art therapy and creative expression, family systems exploration, and somatic mindfulness, I offer you tools to connect deeply with yourself, get to the roots of the pain you are experiencing, and rewrite your story with compassion and clarity. With deep empathy and honesty (as well as the occasional joke and f-bomb), I offer an authentic presence as a fellow traveler.
