I work exclusively with adults (ages 18+) and warmly welcome folx of all genders, sexual orientations, abilities, neurotypes, races and cultures to my practice. I work with many BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, artists/creatives, neurodivergent folx, and survivors of childhood trauma.
While I primarily work with individuals, I welcome their family members (including spouse/partner, parent, sibling, etc.) to join in the therapy process as a source of support if requested.
I do not provide couple's counseling, crisis services, or step-down services (ie. residential treatment or inpatient hopistalization).
Our work together starts with a free 20 minute phone consultation. During this call, I will ask you to tell me a little bit more about what's bringing you into therapy, discuss any initial goals or hopes you may have for our work together, and allowing time to ask each other questions to ensure that we are a good fit. Hopefully by the end of our call, you’ll have a good idea of my approach, style and a bit of a preliminary road map for what working together could look like. This is also when we discuss availability and scheduling. If you decide to move forward and schedule with me, we will agree on a consistent weekly time slot that will be yours for the duration of our work together.
It’s important to me that you work with someone who is best suited for you and what's bringing you to therapy. If we find that it wouldn't be a good match, I am happy to provide you with additional referrals.
If we decide to move forward, I will confirm your contact information in order to send you a link to create a client portal on my electronic health record server, where you will have access to initial intake forms that detail my policies and provide information about my practice.
All sessions are held virtually via HIPAA compliant telehealth platform, doxy.me.
Individual 50-minute session - $140
Family (spouse, parent, or other relative present) 50-minute session - $160
Extended 90-minute sessions available upon request. I do not offer reduced therapy rates at this time.
As part of your intake paperwork, you will be asked to place a credit card on file, which will be automatically charged after your session. You may be eligible to use an HSA or FSA to cover the cost of therapy; this is something that you can talk to your HSA provider about.
I do not currently contract with any insurance panels. Operating independent from insurance companies allows for maximum confidentiality for you and enables treatment to progress on your own terms. This means that I do not directly communicate with, bill or receive payment from any kind of insurance. However, many insurance companies offer benefits for mental health reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly for an explanation of your options.
I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement as an out-of-network benefit. To find out if your provider offers this option, call and ask the following questions:
Therapy is a unique process for each individual. Therefore, I customize my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. Some folks enjoy using their time in session to process freely, others benefit from a more structured therapy approach. As we become more comfortable with each other, activities and approaches will likely emerge organically. Your sessions might include any of the following: talk, guided meditation, creative arts, journaling, and body-based grounding practices. Your feedback is important regarding which approaches are most beneficial.
Your active participation and dedication is crucial to your success. It’s the work you do outside of our sessions (such as taking care of your body and utilizing available supports and emotional outlets) that will really help you see your personal growth and development.
When booking an appointment with me, you are reserving that time in my weekly and monthly schedule. Any unplanned cancellation within less than 24 before your appointment will result in a charge of the full session fee. Sometimes there is an underlying urge to avoid facing something uncomfortable that may motivate a cancellation. As a general rule of thumb, when you least feel like going to therapy is when you most need to go. Therefore, the cancellation policy encourages your commitment to lean in to your discomfort and get the support you need to make lasting changes.
In order to heal relational, attachment-based wounds, consistency is key. Therefore, weekly sessions are strongly recommended. My minimum session frequency is bi-weekly/2x a month.
Therapy is an extremely unique, subjective process; results vary depending on several factors - these include things such as why you are seeking treatment, the severity of current stressors, and your level of motivation for change. Some key indicators that therapy is helping include:
That depends on you and what you’re looking for! For some, therapy may be helpful as a source of short-term (<6 months) support around goal setting, managing symptoms, simply “checking in” or working through a specific problem. For others, therapy may look like a long-term, ongoing professional relationship with no set "end" time - simply put, you are welcome to attend therapy for as long as you feel that it is helpful to you, whether that's a handful of sessions, or far beyond! In the presence of complex, developmental trauma, it is normal for the therapeutic process to take much longer for change, healing, and lasting results. I always encourage clients to view therapy as a journey, not a destination.
