I have been working in the mental health field since 2013. I bring extensive experience supporting folks experiencing depression, anxiety, complex and developmental trauma, autism, and life transitions (ie. divorce, death/loss of a major relationship, coming out as LGBTQIA+). I have worked with individuals, couples and families of all ages across multiple levels of care, including family-based, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient community mental health. My private practice draws from a breadth of lived experience, both as a mental health client (proud therapist with a therapist, here!) and provider.
My approach is tailored to supporting you in examining how your present is influenced by past experiences and core beliefs.
My therapeutic style is trauma-sensitive, informed by family systems and attachment theory: I am curious about how we carry emotions in our bodies, how our individual challenges are affected by larger, systemic issues, and how the way we were attuned to (or not) in our early years informs the way we learn to relate to the world.
I combine different techniques to fit your particular needs, witness your unique story, and explore methods of healing that fit best for you. Modalities I use include art therapy, family of origin exploration, inner child work, and mindfulness based stress reduction.
My greatest areas of interest within the field include Jungian depth psychotherapy, the mind-body connection, generational trauma and epigenetic inhereritance, and immigrant + acculturation experiences.
I spent the first 11 years of my life growing up in Germany as a child of American immigrants, frequently traveling between Europe and the US to visit family. My trans-Atlantic upbringing led me to I grow up feeling “other”, never fully belonging here or there. For a long time, I felt that I didn’t have words to describe the impacts of certain difficult experiences. Making art and journaling provided an initial outlet to “make my mark” and tell my story.
My decision to pursue a career in counseling sprang from firsthand experience of the power of having a safe space and person to offer a light during dark times, and support me in finding my voice. I am forever a friend and advocate to those who feel “other”. The inner work of re-establishing a sense of identity and self-worth has given me nuanced insight into common struggles across the human experience. I love what I do, and I feel so grateful to incorporate my deepest values of creativity, compassion, and inclusivity into my client relationships.
Aspects of my identity that I bring into the therapy space include being of mixed race (European white + black Creole), a third culture kid, cisgender female, neurodivergent, highly sensitive, and spiritual.
I live and practice in West Philadelphia on unceded Lenni Lenape territory. In my free time, I can be found painting, reading, yoga-ing, baking, or planning my next trip.
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 10AM - 6PM
